Safety Data Sheets, commonly known as SDS, provide structured information about chemical hazards, safe handling, storage, exposure controls, emergency response, transportation and disposal. ODD assists customers in obtaining the appropriate supplier or manufacturer-issued SDS for products offered by Oleokimia Niaga Sdn Bhd.

The information on this website is an introduction only. It is not an SDS and must not be used as a replacement for the official, current, product-specific document.

3.1Why The Correct SDS Matters

Products within the same commercial family may have different compositions, concentrations, grades, impurities, additives, physical properties, classifications or suppliers. These differences may change the applicable hazards and precautions. The exact product identity, grade and manufacturer must therefore be confirmed before an SDS is selected or relied upon.

3.2Product Categories

Subject to current sourcing and supply arrangements, SDS documentation may be available for product categories such as:

  • Oleochemicals, including fatty acids, fatty alcohols, methyl esters and glycerine.
  • Oleochemical derivatives, including soap noodles and related materials.
  • Surfactants, including anionic, non-ionic and amphoteric products.
  • Petrochemicals, including glycols, ethanolamines, polymers and industrial alcohols.
  • Oilfield, drilling, completion and other industrial chemical products.

This list is illustrative and does not confirm that a particular grade is currently available or covered by a specific certification.

3.3Methyl Ester Products

The product portfolio reviewed for this website includes palm kernel methyl ester, coconut methyl ester, palm oil methyl ester and fractionated fatty acid methyl esters. Fractionated grades may include lauric-myristic, lauric, myristic, palmitic and oleic-related methyl esters.

A general document labelled only "methyl ester" may not be suitable for every grade. Always request the SDS using the exact trade name, chemical description, grade, supplier and, where available, product code.

3.4How To Request An SDS

To help us identify the correct document, please provide as much of the following information as possible:

  • Exact product name and grade.
  • Product code, quotation number, order number or batch number, if available.
  • Manufacturer or supplier name, if known.
  • Intended application or industry.
  • Required language and country of use.
  • Company name and contact details.
  • Any specific regulatory or transportation document requirement.

Submit requests through the website enquiry form or to the technical desk. We may need to verify the relevant source, product and market before releasing a document.

3.5Documents That May Accompany A Product

Depending on the product and transaction, customers may request an SDS, Technical Data Sheet, product specification, Certificate of Analysis, certification evidence, country-of-origin documentation or other relevant records. These documents serve different purposes and are not interchangeable. Availability and validity must be confirmed for the particular product and shipment.

3.6Before Using A Product

  • Obtain the latest SDS applicable to the exact product supplied.
  • Review the complete document, including hazard identification, first-aid, firefighting, accidental-release and exposure-control sections.
  • Confirm compatibility with the intended process, equipment, containers and other materials.
  • Complete a workplace risk assessment and implement appropriate engineering controls.
  • Provide suitable personal protective equipment and training.
  • Confirm local requirements for storage, labelling, transportation, waste and environmental protection.
  • Make the SDS accessible to employees, contractors, emergency responders and downstream users as required.

3.7Safe Handling And Storage

Handling and storage requirements are product-specific. Follow the official SDS and product label concerning temperature, ventilation, moisture, ignition sources, incompatible materials, containment, grounding, stacking, shelf life and container integrity. Keep chemicals in properly identified containers and do not transfer them into unlabelled or unsuitable packaging.

3.8Personal Protective Equipment

The type of gloves, eye protection, protective clothing and respiratory protection required depends on the substance, concentration, exposure route, workplace controls and task. Do not select protective equipment solely from general website content. Use the SDS, workplace risk assessment and advice from a competent safety professional.

3.9Spills, Accidental Release And Environmental Protection

In the event of a spill or accidental release, restrict access, remove ignition sources where applicable, avoid unprotected contact, prevent material from entering drains or waterways, and follow the containment and cleanup measures in the relevant SDS. Only trained and properly equipped personnel should respond. Notify the appropriate authorities where required.

3.10First Aid

If exposure occurs, move the affected person away from further exposure when it is safe to do so and follow the first-aid instructions in the product-specific SDS. Seek medical attention or contact the appropriate poison information or emergency service when required. Provide the product label and SDS to medical personnel whenever possible.

3.11Fire And Emergency Response

Firefighting media, decomposition products and protective measures differ between chemicals. In a fire or serious incident, raise the alarm, evacuate according to the site's emergency plan and contact local emergency services. Fire response should be performed only by trained personnel using the methods and equipment stated in the applicable SDS.

3.12Transportation

Transport classification can vary according to product composition, concentration, package size, mode of transport and jurisdiction. Confirm the latest transport information for road, sea and air shipments through the applicable SDS and shipping documents. Do not assume that a product is non-regulated merely because no transport warning appears on a marketing page.

3.13Disposal

Waste product, contaminated absorbent, packaging and wash water must be assessed and disposed of according to the SDS and applicable environmental and waste laws. Do not discharge chemical products into drains, soil or waterways. Engage an appropriately authorised waste contractor where required.

3.14Document Currency And Revisions

SDS documents may be revised when product formulations, suppliers, classifications or regulations change. Check the issue or revision date and confirm that the document matches the product being supplied. Retain previous versions where required for workplace or regulatory records, but use the current applicable version for operational decisions.

3.15Language And Jurisdiction

An SDS prepared for one country may not satisfy the format, language, classification or emergency-contact requirements of another. Tell us the destination and intended country of use so that the appropriate available document can be identified. The customer remains responsible for local workplace and downstream compliance.

3.16Disclaimer

ODD and Oleokimia provide SDS documents received from or approved by the applicable manufacturer or supplier. Unless Oleokimia is expressly identified as the manufacturer or SDS author, we do not independently replace or rewrite the manufacturer's hazard classification. Customers must verify that the document corresponds to the actual product, grade, batch and source supplied.

Website content, commercial communications and technical discussions do not amend the official SDS. Where information appears inconsistent, stop handling or using the product and request clarification from the technical contact before proceeding.
